Population of 300,000 accounting for only 1.5% of Australia's population.  The land mass however, accounts for 20% of Australia with the Northern Territory capital in Darwin. the state is comprised of many different ethnic backgrounds as well as those of aboriginal descent.  Aboriginal land trusts hold title to about 40% of the vast land mass.
